Large vessel vasculitis.
The vasculitides affecting large and medium-sized vessels are heterogeneous. This group includes such disorders as giant cell arteritis, Takayasu's disease, and sarcoidosis. There are several challenges that may arise in the care of patients with these disorders. Diagnosis may be elusive when initially evaluating patients with large-vessel vasculitis. Most serologic markers are not specific, an...
متن کاملPericarditis Revealing Large Vessel Vasculitis
Large vessels vasculitis and more specifically, Giant cell arteritis, is characterized by increased inflammatory markers, headaches and altered clinical status. Diagnosis is confirmed by biopsy of temporal arteries showing the presence of granuloma and vasculitis. We hereby report the case of a patient presenting initially as pericarditis and revealing large vessel vasculitis using FDG-PET.

متن کاملAnti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibody-Associated Vasculitis, Large Vessel Vasculitis and Kawasaki Disease in Japan
Based on studies comparing the prevalence of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) between Japan and Europe, we have learned that the difference may be due to genetic background and environmental factors, but not to diagnosis or ELISA system for myeloperoxidase and proteinase-3 ANCA. In Japan, microscopic polyangiitis is the most common among AAV, but Wegener’s...
